Infrastructure – Many infrastructure projects, totaling over $7.7 million, have been funded for area villages for sewer projects, street paving, water line replacement, and so on. Many of these projects are funded through OPWC, CDBG, and OWDA. The following towns/villages are the successful beneficiaries:

Education – Developing tomorrow’s leaders is very important to us and we have successfully obtained over $11.9 million in educational grants for schools in Muskingum and Perry Counties. Some of the successful programs include:

  • 21st Century Community Learning Center Grants
  • Early Learning Initiative Grants
  • Raising the Bar Technology Grants
  • TANF grants
  • Early College High School Grant

Economic Development – we have secured $3.7 million in funds to provide economic development to the local community. Successful funding sources include:

  • Community Development Block Grants (CDBG)
  • Appalachian Region Commission (ARC/Planning Grants)
  • US Small Business Administration Grants
  • Ohio Water Development Authority (OWDA) Grants and Low Interest Loans

Public Safety – Over $2.3 million has been funded for police and fire departments for public safety needs. Some examples include:

  • Village of Crooksville Police Dept. – new police radios
  • South Zanesville Police Dept. – new police cameras
  • New Concord Volunteer Fire Dept. – new rescue equipment, PPE and SCBA, inflatable safety house
  • Adamsville Volunteer Fire Dept. – new fire truck, PPE, SCBA and equipment
  • Byesville Volunteer Fire Dept. – new PPE and equipment
  • Frazeysburg Volunteer Fire Dept. – new truck, SCBA, PPE and equipment
  • Crooksville Volunteer Fire Dept. –  new PPE and equipment
  • South Zanesville Volunteer Fire Dept. – new PPE and equipment
  • Red Cross – fire prevention and safety programs
  • Reno Volunteer Fire Department - new PPE and a brush truck
  • Woodsfield Fire Department - generator, PPE, and communications equipment
  • City of Zanesville - new ladder truck

Housing – we have successfully obtained over $5.6 million in funding for housing preservation and improvement projects. Such programs include:

  • HUD Comprehensive Housing Grants
  • ODO Rehab Grants
  • USDA Housing Preservation Grants
  • CHIP Grants

Social Services – Just over $3 million has been secured for the social service needs of our community.

  • Emergency Shelter Grant for the Salvation Army
  • Food and Nutrition Grant for the United Way
  • Elderly and Handicapped Transportation Assistance Grants
  • Child Care Development Grants
  • Ohio Dept. of Health, Family & Community Health Services Grants
  • Tobacco Education Grants
  • Prescription Assistance Program
  • Domestic Violence Assistance

Parks and Recreations – Over $3.6 million has been obtained for parks and recreation.

  • Zanes Landing Park boat docks, pumping station, and recreational trail
  • Muskingum Recreational Trail
  • Crooksville Community Center and Tennis Courts
  • South Zanesville Parks
  • Tri Valley Fitness Center
  • Jefferson Township

Community Development – we have successfully secured over $2.6 million in Community Development projects. Recent beneficiaries include:

  • Bethel Mission – tools and supplies for a low income neighborhood based job development
  • The Village of Adamsville – a new roof on their Community Building
  • Perry County Community Improvement Grants
  • Jefferson Township – public sidewalks
  • Dresden and Frazeysburg – storm sewer projects
  • Village of Frazeysburg Wastewater Treatment Plant Upgrade
